When the fictional nation of Kahndaq is destroyed by the immortal threat Vandal Savage and an evil man named Ahch-Ton uses an Orb of Ra (the same alchemical artifact which, in the comics continuity, grants power to shapeshifting Elemental Hero Metamorpho), Black Adam loses control of himself and goes on a rampage, forcing Shazam, the wizard, to entrap him inside the magic Scarab, which is buried inside the grave.

Black Adam (Teth/Theo-Adam) is now a native of the fictional North African country Kahndaq, rather than Egypt, though he served Egyptian Prince Khufu (who was later reincarnated as the Justice Society of America member Hawkman).  
When Teth-Adam says the magical word Shazam, he is transformed into Black Adam (Teth/Theo-Adam), gaining the same powers Captain Marvel was subsequently granted; however, Black Adam is quickly corrupted by the sheer scale of his powers. 
As originally portrayed, Black Adam (Teth/Theo-Adam) is the corrupted, ancient Egyptian precursor of Captain Marvel, fighting his way into modern times in order to challenge the hero and his Shazam family comrades

The Fawcett Comics character, the unpowered uncle of Marvels family, got the idea for superhero Shazam, and he tricks Black Adam (Teth/Theo-Adam) into saying Shazam, turning him back to Teth-Adam.

Like Shazam, Black Adam has a number of significant powers granted to him by magic, including superhuman strength, endurance, invulnerability, genius intelligence, skilled combat skills, flight powers, and the power to control light. Thousands of years before Billy Batson became the magically-enabled hero, Shazam, a magician, chose another champion. 
Earlier this year, Hiram Garcia, the production chairman for Seven Bucks Productions, which is owned by Johnson, told Polygon that Black Adams top priority was bringing the Black Adam Powers set to life. 
The roster includes the Atom-Smasher (Noah Sentino), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), and they are all expected to get a bit bruising after facing off against the combination of Black Adams flying, super-strength, super-speed, and electrical attacks.
In fact, the Justice Society of America is sure to wow longtime fans, with To All The Boys I Have Loved Before starring Noah Centineo appearing as a formidable Atom-Smasher -- and horror fans will recognize Hawkman as Aldis Hodge from The Invisible Man

Dwayne Johnson makes his highly anticipated debut in the comics movie Black Adam, with the newly released first trailer for the movie - set for October 21st release in theaters - promising a bombastic origin tale of DC Comics antihero, who is the ultimate DC antihero.
 Black Adams initial tale has connections to almost all of the DC slate: From the Justice Society of America, who is making its feature film debut in Johnsons Black Adam, to S.H.A.M.E.L.D., to Suicide Squad, even characters that are yet to be introduced to the DCEU, such as Metamorpho.
