Today, June 19th, is Father's Day in the United States and a variety of other countries around the world. What does that mean?
It means that it's time to celebrate your dad, your grandfather, your uncle, or whomever has been a father figure in your life! Check out our list of 10 great ways to honor the wonderful dads in your life this Father's Day!
Don't forget about him
If you’re one of those people who wants to treat father’s day like every other holiday, don’t forget about him. As The Huffington Post suggests, When was your last quality time with dad? It doesn't have to be extravagant or time-consuming.
It can even be as simple as a phone call or letting him know how much he means to you through social media channels and/or email. Although father's day isn't for everyone, it can certainly remind all of us that we should be thankful for our fathers.
Surprise him with his favorite meal
A lot of guys love a good homemade pizza. If that’s your dad’s favorite meal (or one of them), get creative with toppings and make it extra-special by inviting over some friends or family members.
This can also be a fun activity for kids on Father’s Day. If you don’t know what his favorite meal is or if he isn’t too picky, try visiting one of these local restaurant deals near me instead!
If he’s more of a breakfast person: Some men just want their eggs sunny side up—not everyone likes hash browns or pancakes on Father’s Day. The best way to surprise him with his favorite breakfast dish is by getting out of bed early enough to cook it before he wakes up.
Or maybe you could even start preparing it before bed so all you have to do in the morning is finish cooking and set everything out for him. You could even throw together an egg casserole so all you have to do in the morning is pop it into the oven when he wakes up!
Watch his favorite movie with him
After all, what says I love you more than sharing a favorite pastime with someone close to you? If your dad loves sports (or some other form of entertainment), make sure his Father's Day gift includes an activity he can enjoy with friends or family.
If a typical dinner and movie date isn't enough to hold his attention and tell him how much he means to you, why not try a sporting event at least once during Father's Day weekend as well?
Sometimes it takes something big—like watching his favorite team win—to get through even just one inning together without any awkward silences.
It may be that your dad just needs something bigger than flowers or another tie for Father's Day if he wants more out of his relationships than usual on holidays like these.
Hang out and have fun
The best way to show dad how much he means to you is just by spending time with him. Grab a few of his favorite things and make a day out of it—go fishing, play ball or take a trip together.
Whether he’s an outdoorsman or prefers staying inside on a lazy Sunday afternoon, there’s sure to be something that puts a smile on his face. You might find yourself spending Father’s Day with him every year from now on. That’s what we call a happy accident.
Buy him a gift he'll love (and use!)
If you've got a dad who loves gadgets and technology—the kind of guy who owns any number of devices (smartphone, laptop, tablet) that he relies on daily—you've got two excellent gift options: a docking station or charging station.
These accessories let him charge multiple devices at once while keeping everything organized and ready for quick use.
You can often find charging stations online or at big-box electronics stores like Best Buy or RadioShack for under $50. They make great Father's Day gifts.
